Cell Cycle of Deodenal Cryptal Cell

Abstract
It is widely accepted that the circadian rhythmicity would be found in almost every cell population
of animals. Among many of the cell cycle investigators a few of them. have attempted to demonstrate
the role of circadian rhythmicity in duodenal cryptal cellswith the aid of autoradiography.
However, their methods have many disadventages to demonstrate the circadian rhythmicity, the
author has introduced a new and precise approach for the study of circadian activity of cell population. In an attempt to study the significance of the circadian rhythm in cell cycle of duodenal cryptal cell
population, white leghorn male chicks of one day old were divided into two experimental groups: that
is AM injection group and PM injection group. And they were subjected into 3H-thymidine autoradio-
graphy.
Each group was treated intraperitoneally with 3H-thymidine of given dose at 6.00 AM and 3.00 PM respectively
Cell cycle and its parameters were determined and discussed.
The results thus obtained were as follows:
1. Proliferation activity of duodenal cryptal cell of one day old white leghorn chick revealed distinct circadian rhythmicity. ,
2. Proliferation. activity of ducdenal cryptal cell was very high at 3:00 PM and low at 6:00 AM..
3. The strongest influence of circadian rhythm was upon presynthetic phase of them all phases.
4. Labeling and mitotic indices were higher in PM group than in AM group.
5. In the estimation of cell cycle, it should be considered that the most important attention hasto paid second curve to be obtained by labelled mitosis against time factor at each experimental group.
